The Bollin Valley Way

This 25 mile (40 km), recreational path, starts at Macclesfield Riverside Park and ends on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal at Partington. Its route shadows the course of the River Bollin taking in fields, woodlands, towns and villages and passes around (and under) Manchester Airport. Eastern section:

Macclesfield Riverside Park to Twinneys Bridge, Styal

This first section of the walk is 8.5 miles (13.5 Km) long. Starting in Macclesfield, once a world leader in silk production, it then passes through the ancient village of Prestbury before skirting the town of Wilmslow.

Central section:

Twinneys Bridge, Styal to Ashley Heath

The middle section is 7 miles (11 Km) long. It continues through the National Trust Quarrybank Mill before passing under runway 2 at Manchester Airport and on to Rossmill Woodland on the edge of Hale Barns.

Weston section:

Ashley Heath to Partington

The last section is 8.5 miles (13.5 Km) long. It Follows the river past Hale and Bowdon before passing through the National Trust's Dunham Massey Estate to Warburton and ending to the south of Partington.
